Have you had a chance to make cornstarch dough stamped hearts ? I just loved how fun it was to work with the dough. I suppose it brings back good memories of playing with Playdoh as a child! The simple hearts I created with the dough turned out so well, I’m using them on all sorts of things.
My hurricane votives worked great for a base for tying them on. I found the plaid cotton fabric in my fabric stash and loved all of the pastel colors. I ripped strips that were about 1/4 inch wide across the width of the fabric.
For my large votive, I tied a bow and then tied on two hearts that had a single hole. One heart I cut using my larger heart cookie cutter on just the swirled dough. The second smaller heart I stamped with my word stamp while the dough was a lighter pink and used the mini heart cutter.
On my smaller votives, I threaded my fabric strip through a two-holed heart I cut out of the swirled dough. I wrapped it around the votive and tied a simple knot on the back.
I found my two white birds on sale in the home decor section of my local Fred Meyer (Kroger). I thought they were too cute to pass up and I think I can use them in a lot of different arrangements. They’ll work perfectly throughout the year.
I found the two bright pink candles at Fred Meyer, also. I was looking for white candles that would fit my votives, but I decided on the brighter pink once I saw them. I don’t find pink candles very often, so I thought they’d add a bit of color for the winter.
In the background, I added two of the hearts I sewed this past weekend. In an earlier post I mentioned that I was going to sew, and sew I did! I ended up making my two Christmas pillowcases, four aprons, and a multitude of scrap fabric hearts. I’ll show you what I did with all of those hearts in my next post.
Have a blessed and happy day!
Laurie ♥

Thanks, Julie! I love that pink fabric, too. I think I used it to make a dress for one of my girls when she was a toddler – so over 15 years or so ago. I think I need to work on using more from my fabric stash! Thanks so much for the winter blessings and for the nice comment!
